Ruchita Venugopal
Ruchita, was born and brought up in the beautiful town of Rourkela, Odisha. From a tender age of six she started her dance under Guru Rabindra Kumar Swain. She delved deep into the world of Odissi, mastering its nuances and rhythms.
While Ruchita’s roots are firmly planted in traditional Odissi, she has always had a keen inclination towards semiclassical dance. This interest led her to choreograph numerous pieces, where she seamlessly blended elements of classical Odissi with contemporary moves. Her innovative choreographies, which modernize traditional dance, have found favor with a wide audience, reflecting her ability to adapt and evolve. She graced many state-level stages and festivals, her performances resonated with her passion and dedication.
After moving to the USA in 2011, Ruchita’s found a new chapter in her dance journey. Under the guidance of Guru Jyoti Rout, she continued to refine her Odissi skills, all while infusing her choreographies with a mix of tradition and modernity, catering to diverse tastes.
